Government of India Launches India's First Green Hydrogen Fuel-Cell EV Toyota Mirai
Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Emphasizes the Importance of Green Energy
The Toyota Mirai Can Travel Up to 402 Miles on a Single Fill-Up
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari has launched India's first green hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV), the Toyota Mirai, in a significant step towards promoting clean energy in the transportation sector. The launch took place at the Parliament House in New Delhi, where Gadkari arrived in the hydrogen-powered car. The Toyota Mirai is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell that converts hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, producing only water vapor as a byproduct. This technology eliminates harmful emissions, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional gasoline-powered vehicles. The car can travel around 402 miles (647 km) on a single fill-up, taking approximately five minutes to fuel. "We are committed to promoting green hydrogen as a clean fuel for the future," said Gadkari. "The Toyota Mirai is a testament to the transformative potential of hydrogen technology, and we believe it will play a vital role in reducing emissions from the transportation sector." The launch of the Toyota Mirai in India is part of the government's broader push towards green energy and sustainable transportation. The government has set ambitious targets for the adoption of electric vehicles and is encouraging the development of hydrogen fuel-cell technology. The Toyota Mirai is currently available in select countries, and its introduction in India marks a significant milestone in the country's transition to cleaner energy sources. The car is expected to be available in India later this year.
