Former Cambridge Scholar's Work Still Out of Reach

Researcher's Thesis on 17th-Century Currency Policy Not Publicly Available

The doctoral thesis of the United Kingdom's Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng, remains unavailable to the public. The thesis, entitled "Political Thought of the Recoinage Crisis of 1695," was submitted to the University of Cambridge in 1998. However, the author has not yet agreed to its release.

Kwarteng's thesis has been the subject of much speculation, as it is believed to shed light on his economic and political views. In a recent interview, Kwarteng said that his thesis was "an academic exercise" and that he does not believe it is relevant to his current role as Chancellor.

However, some academics have argued that Kwarteng's thesis is of great public interest, as it could provide insights into his thinking on important economic issues. They have called on Kwarteng to release the thesis so that it can be scrutinized by the public.
