From The Kang Dynasty to Avengers: Doomsday
Two years after announcing Avengers 5 aka The Kang Dynasty at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the Hall H stage to reveal a major change of plans. The Kang Dynasty has been retitled with a full-tilt pivot. The next Avengers films will simply be called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
A New Direction for the MCU
The change in title suggests a significant shift in the direction of the MCU. The Kang Dynasty was originally expected to be a direct sequel to Avengers: Endgame, focusing on the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror. However, the new title suggests that the film will be more focused on the team as a whole, and on their battle against a new threat.
The official Marvel movie page for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been updated with a new synopsis that reads, "The Avengers must travel through time to stop Kang the Conqueror from conquering the past, present, and future." This synopsis suggests that the film will be a globe-trotting adventure, with the Avengers traveling to different time periods to stop Kang from altering history.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on November 7, 2025.
